How it behaves
Successful responses wrap Substack JSON as { "data": ... }. Missing parameters return 400. Unknown resources return 404. Upstream timeouts return 504.
/search/publication is the newsletter directory: ranked publications for a name or topic. That is different from the publications list tucked into /search/post, which follows matching posts.

Batch jobs
For a dataset instead of one request at a time, the Substack Newsletter Scraper on Apify takes newsletter URLs and/or keyword search, then writes posts (and optional comments) to a dataset. It calls this same live API. The Actor is private for now — ask on Discord if you want a run. Checkout for the REST API stays on RapidAPI.
